81-year-old Eric cycles for Help for Heroes.

Eric Ayling celebrated his 81st birthday only a few days ago but next week he takes on a 5 day, 45 hour bike ride challenge to raise money for Help for Heroes.

Mr Ayling will be at the Tidworth Leisure Centre from Monday 26th September on a static bike for eight hours every day trying to raise as much money as possible.

Eric served in the Royal Air Force in the 50’s and says: “Help for Heroes is a great charity, it’s great to see soldiers getting that extra help, and being able to support people that have been injured and that are struggling.

Eric has a huge network of support joining him next week, “Help for Heroes are popping along to come and support me and to help me raise money – it’s great. My friends and family are going to come too and even some of the local soldiers are going to join me on the challenge and get on the bikes for a few hours.””

Eric has been training for months, he’s been on the exercise bike at the gym, going for bike rides cross-country and been lifting weights to make sure he has all the strength he needs when the challenge starts next week.
