Be Wiser Insurance launches new career development plan for staff

Hampshire based Be Wiser Insurance has launched a new career development programme for its staff.

The aim of the Take Charge programme is to prepare employees for future jobs within the company and help retain an experienced workforce.

“Having up-skilled employees with strong business knowledge is important for us and it means we have a workforce who can engage in their own development,” said Crescens George, Be Wiser Chief Operation Officer. “Take Charge will enable our employees to receive a more formal and structured plan to support their career aspirations.”

The Take Charge programme will run over nine months with participants completing modules, including raising your profile through professional development, performance managements and good interview techniques. There will be a variety of learning techniques including E-learning, business mentoring, research projects, group activities and classroom sessions.

Insurance Consultant, Robert Moore (24), has been working at Be Wiser for nine months. He believes the Take Charge programme will give him more opportunities to expand his skills and help him progress towards his career goals.

“I aspire to become involved in the Human Resources department and explore my career moves that branch out from that path,” said Robert, who lives in Andover. “The Take Charge Programme will help me better understand the best way to treat employees from different positions and give me experience in dealing with colleague’s queries and how to professionally lead and inspire others. Taking a leadership role will require creating an environment where employees feel comfortable and productive along with monitoring results and assessing how best to improve performances. I feel these skills would be helpful in the Human Resources positions and I am eager to learn as many as possible to assist me in reaching that goal.”

Harriet Hearmon (20) has worked at Be Wiser for three years. She’s a Credit Control Consultant with aspirations to become a team leader.

“This is an amazing opportunity given to us as a company and as individuals,” said Harriet. “We will need to work hard and strive to achieve and complete the course and by the end we should be ready to take on a superior role if the opportunity arises.”

Customer Liaison Executive, Alison Culverwell (50) has worked at Be Wiser for almost two years after a career change. “This programme will enable me to have more exposure to company and management responsibilities as my final goal is a Manager role.”
