Castledown Radio’s Juke Box’s – Number One Smash!

Castledown Radio’s Juke Box’s – Number One Smash!

Saturday 17 October was Castledown Radio’s Juke Box show’s first birthday and the celebrations held at the studios were certainly impressive. The celebrations ran from 12 – 6pm and with a fantastic array of refreshments in the green room and a beautiful birthday cake, the team certainly made sure our guests were looked after!

Live artists Just Millie, Kyrum, Alex Krupa, 80 Proof Mojo as well as the children’s choir from Wyndham Park Infants School, all came to the studios and performed live.

For some of our live artists it was a returning visit to the studio and it’s great to be able to support artists within our community and help promote them. Just Millie (who last came to the studio two years ago and was recently placed runner up in the ‘Best of British unsigned female 2015’ competition) brought her friends along and provided a great session for the listeners.

‘The success of the first year of the show has largely been achieved by local guests coming to see me and chatting on air, so it seemed appropriate to get everyone back to help us celebrate’ said Kev Lawrence, the Juke Box show presenter. ‘It was great to see everyone again and I hope they will come back sometime during the next year’. Kev also presents shows at Radio Odstock, which is based in Salisbury Hospital.

We welcomed back local author Barbara Townsend and were delighted to hear that her fourth book Harriet has just gone to the publishers. It will be on sale in time for Christmas, aimed at 7-11 yr olds it is about the south’s Jurassic coast. To order a copy visit her website,

The Juke Box is live every Saturday from 12-2pm hosted by Kev, Heather and Tom. If you would like to be a guest on the show email, alternatively simply tune in and have a listen!
