Getting to know you…

Getting to know you…

Hello good people of the Tidworth Community Area! It has been fantastic meeting so many of you over the past month, and I look forward to meeting many more of you in the weeks ahead. Keep a watch on my twitter feed as this will often tell you where I am if you want to stop me and have a chat. https://twitter.com/TidworthCEM. Or you can drop me an email marc.read@wiltshire.gov.uk or call me on 01722 434557.
It was the Tidworth Area Board on Monday which had a fantastic turn out again. Local Youth Network Grants were approved for Zorb Football and a Youth Shelter in Tidworth, so watch out for those. Area Board grants were approved for the Tidworth War Memorial (what a fantastic presentation) and Ludgersahll Memorial Hall, fire alarm. More money in the pot for community projects though so please do get your bids in! The highlight for me though was the presentation from Liz Froud, whose update on the Wiltshire Julia’s House project, caused a spontaneous round of applause. https://juliashouse.org/
This week has also seen the launch of Wiltshire Council’s Apprenticeship Scheme, which seeks to grow the number of apprenticeships available in the county, urging more businesses to sign up to a scheme, and with a particular focus on encouraging learners to develop through the apprenticeships programme, up to higher and degree apprenticeships. If you want to get involved or know more, get in touch!
And just to show the variety of my work, lets go from apprenticeships to Men’s Sheds…A Men’s Shed is a safe and nurturing environment where Men, who have time on their hands for whichever reason, can go to work on projects and activities which interest them. Men’s Sheds welcome everyone who have time on their hands whether that’s due to unemployment, retirement, bereavement, disability or simply if someone’s new to an area and are looking for ways of finding out about what’s going on within a community. Watch this space for more information!
Hope you are all enjoying the Autumn colours around Wiltshire – A fantastic time of year.
Speak soon,
Marc
