On Sunday, 8th November, Ludgershall will join the rest of the nation in remembering the fallen service personnel who lost their lives in conflicts around the world. For those that can attend the memorial service in the centre of Ludgershall (and other towns and villages up and down the UK) the service is very moving, however if you cannot actually attend a service Castledown Radio can help you pay your respects at home.
Castledown Radio will be transmitting the church service held at St James’ Church of Ludgershall and Faberstown from 10am on the 8th, followed by the service and 2 minutes silence at 11am from the Memorial in the centre of Ludgershall. If you are waiting at the Memorial you will also be able to hear the church service, relayed over the radio to the High Street. To enable the expected number of soldiers to attend the High Street will be closed for longer that usual. with diversions in place. Extra parking will also be available on the recreation ground.
After the 2 minutes silence we will cover the wreath laying and then the departure of the serving soldiers, the local scout group and cadets from The Wellington Academy, as well as local town councillors and guests and members of the public that have supported the service.
Castledown Radio can be heard on 104.7FM in the Tidworth Community Area and world-wide via Listen Live on www.castledownradio.info. We would like to thank the owners of The Crown Inn Ludgershall for the use of the internet and power on the day, Rev’d Claire Maxim for access to the church and church hall, and Ludgershall Town Council for organising the road closure and the event.
