People invited to step up to 2017 challenge walks

Get Wiltshire Walking launched its 2017 challenge with a five and a half mile walk from Netherhampton Livestock Market. The walk is one of the annual challenge walks, which the Get Wiltshire Walking project runs during the year in addition to the regular schedule of free weekly led walks. John Goodall, consultant in public health, said: “These walks give the registered weekly walkers more opportunity to get out and about and visit some of Wiltshire’s wonderful countryside as well as meeting up with walkers from other groups.” There are six walks in places of interest across the county in the challenge series this year, which for the first time, includes at least one evening walk. Many of the walks provide for three different levels of ability to encourage less able walkers to join in. The Easter walk at Netherhampton Livestock Market saw 130 walkers from across the county follow what is now quite a familiar route on a clear sunny day. Many of the walkers then enjoyed a buffet lunch back at the Livestock Market.
