Short Breaks Scheme 2018/19 NOW OPEN

The Wiltshire Short breaks Scheme is now open and applications must be made by the deadline which is  Wednesday February 28th 2018

As per last year, applications for the scheme need to be made via the Wiltshire Council online form:

Wiltshire Council Online Form

Please remember that it is your responsibility to make sure you have received an email receipt for your application. Last year some people experienced problems receiving email receipts, especially if they had applied using Hotmail email accounts, iPads or some smartphones.

In anticipation of a repeat of this problem this year there is now a text on the submission screen which includes the following:

Late applications will not be accepted so you are advised to keep a copy of this page (print or save a copy) as a record of your application should you need to evidence that you applied before the deadline.”

We recommend using a desktop PC or laptop if at all possible to make your application, but if you experience difficulties with your application please contact the WPCC on 01225 764647. If you do not have access to the internet or you need some help to make an application, please telephone us, (WPCC) on 01225 764647 and we will be happy to help you. Please leave a message with your name and telephone number on the answering machine, if you cannot get through.

Please see our website for full details including eligibility criteria, link to the online form and changes to this year’s scheme:

WPCC Vacancies
As a result of the generous decision by Wiltshire Council Cabinet to award additional funding to the WPCC to extend and enhance our SENDIS service so that we can offer even more support to parent carers of children and young people with SEND across Wiltshire, we are advertising two vacancies:

SENDIS Outreach Worker

This is a permanent part time term time only position for four days per week, working during half term breaks but not main school holidays. The role of SENDIS Outreach worker is to work face to face with parent carers of children and young people with SEND, and provide information and signposting in relation to the services and support within Wiltshire’s Local Offer.

Closing date for receipt of applications for this job is 5pm, Thursday 8th February 2018.

Data Protection Admin Assistant

This is a temporary part time position for an 8 week period, working Monday to Friday, 10:30am to 2:30pm. The role of Data Protection Admin Assistant is to help us prepare for General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and implementation of new compliance mechanisms. The role will include cross checking data held on our systems to ensure appropriate consent has been given, and to create and populate a Data Protection Register.

Closing date for receipt of applications is 5pm, Thursday 8th February 2018.

WPCC SENDIS Information Event – 2nd February 2018 – HOLD THE DATE

We will be repeating our annual SENDIS Information Event on Friday 2nd February 2018. We are busy confirming a programme of workshops for the day but we wanted to give everyone as much notice as possible so you can put the date in your diaries.

The venue is now confirmed and the event will take place at the Corn Exchange in Devizes, SN10 1HS and will run from 10.00am to 2.00pm. The format will be similar to previous SENDIS Information Events, click: HERE for an overview and reminder of what the event looked like last year (and overviews of other events that have taken place). As soon as we have been able to confirm the workshops and produced the flyer etc. we will make the booking form available.

WPCC Phone Line Hours 2018

Our membership and responsibilities have grown significantly and as a result, we are experiencing increased access of our SENDIS service. To ensure we are able to continue to provide a quality service, we need to ensure sufficient dedicated time each week for information handover between ourselves, so that we can continue to provide a seamless and effective service for parent carers and professionals.

Due to increasing access to our SENDIS service extended handovers now consistently take place on Mondays and Wednesdays each week wherever possible. Phone lines will still be open during these extended handover times and callers will be invited to leave a message on the answer phone, with their name and number, so that we can return their call as soon as possible.

Office hours will remain 10.00am – 5.00pm, Monday to Friday, unless stated otherwise.
