21 people attended the litter-pick and verge clearing day at Fittleton and Haxton. 6 bags of litter were collected – much of it from areas where the Army congregate on exercise on the Plain or where the public come to see the river crossing. As well as litter picking we cleared, using hedge trimmer and secateurs, about 100 yards of roadside foliage which was encroaching into the road. Also, the edges of the allotment area were strimmed, The Pound at Haxton was tidied up with grass being cut, weeds from around the kerbs and the gutters cleared of debris, Downsview Close was tidied up by the residents and the notice board was cleaned. Bacon butties, teas and coffees were supplied by the Chairman’s wife and helper. Pictured are Victoria Jago with Alan and Jane Wood. Fittleton Parish Council are grateful to Wiltshire Council for providing litter pickers and refuse sacks.
