Wiltshire Public Health Success Celebrated

High quality public health work by individuals and organisations in Wiltshire has been recognised and celebrated at a special ceremony. Wiltshire Council’s annual public health awards were held to thank those who are playing a vital role in improving health in Wiltshire. More than 100 nominations were received across nine different categories covering all aspects of public health from tacking health in the community, tackling obesity to workplace health and wellbeing and improvement in mental health and wellbeing. The winners on the night were: ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​


  • Dance Six-0 won the Tackling Health Inequalities in the Community award
  • The Calne HAACA (Healthy Active Calne Community Area) won the Tackling Obesity award
  • Sexual Health Services, Swindon and Wiltshire Local Pharmaceutical Committee won the Passante award for improved sexual health and/or reduced teenage pregnancies
  • Living Well Scheme, Salisbury Medical Practice won the Innovation in Public Health award
  • Mental Wellbeing Programme – Active Plus won the Mental Health and Wellbeing Award
  • Bradford on Avon Community Emergency Volunteers won the Promoting Safety and Reducing Harm award
  • Lyons Seafoods won the Workplace Health and Wellbeing award
  • Bowel Screening Programme, Hindon Surgery won the Primary Care Contribution to Public Health award
  • The Zone at Wiltshire Music Centre won the Liquid Media Outstanding Contribution Award (which was voted for on the evening)

Maggie Rae, Wiltshire Council corporate director said: “ It was a fabulous evening and it was lovely to honour those in our communities who do so much for people’s health and wellbeing in Wiltshire. “I hope that the stories behind some of the nominations provide inspiration for others to do what they can to make a positive impact on the health of our local population.” Keith Humphries, cabinet member for public health, said: “I’m very fortunate that as part of my role I get to meet such inspirational people. We’re proud to celebrate the work they do through these awards and thank them for their commitment – it really is appreciated.”
